Dear Fat Girl, You’re Fit AF

I just got back from one of the best runs that I have ever done. I left the house at 8.30pm as I was working late and I just needed to get out and do some sort of exercise today. I’ve been in the gym a lot lately, and Boo and I signed up for a 5km in July, so I figured I had better get my ass running again. It’s been over a year since I ran regularly. I do such a huge range of exercise, from weights to HIIT to cycling, swimming, SUP and whatever activity Cheryl from Rock The Naked Truth organises 😉 However, running has fallen off that wagon. I actually like running. I mean I hate it every single time my foot hits the ground, but I love it at the same time. It really is a sadistic pastime. Anyway, I’m rambling, fucking endorphins! Jazzy Tomato

So I decided to go for a run, which meant I couldn’t leave the house until I had charged my Tom Tom Multisport because in my world, unless it’s recorded by a GPS gadget, it didn’t happen, and I need to prove to myself that it did lol! I also put together potentially the strangest playlist to date. Some heavy alternative and some hardcore rave, not my usual mix together, but going through my itunes to make the playlist earlier, these were the songs that ended up on there, and fuck am I glad they did. I kitted up, did some stretches while I was waiting for the traffic lights to change so I could cross over to bayside, then set off.

My running usually consists of evenly timed “run” and “walk” periods as I am still very much a beginner. I usually set a clip on buzzer thing to let me know the timings, however I left the house and thought, fuck it, I will just use songs to time me for my intervals…….

I set off and the humidity smacked me in the face in the first 100m…. now I know how hot and humid it is here, but I havent run in for ages, so my 200m I thought I was actually going to die, I huffed and puffed and choked and carried on like a crazy person, and then all of a sudden found my rhythm and didn’t die. So I kept going, and going and doing my intervals and melting and running and running. I had not set distance or time in my mind, then kept noticing how good my splits were, so decided to try for 5km in under 40mins, which for me, my 5km PB is 41.25 or something close to that. As I started getting near home, and realising that my distance was too short, I decided to go around the financial centre (sorry business people enjoying your bar drinks if I made you feel bad!) and stopped dead on 5km after a few up and downs out the Runfront of my building. I didn’t make it under 40, but fuck I was close. I swear the music is what got me there. Started all angry and hard with some System of a Down and then the RAVE got me home. And I NEEDED IT. I’ve been feeling like such a failure lately. I work so freaking hard at this. I know my PCOS is a huge factor, but I am fat, and I feel fat. I’m not whinging about being fat. I am doing something about it. It’s FRUSTRATING that it takes so long and I have to work so hard, but tonight, I’m heavier than I normally am, I havent run regularly in over a year, and I kicked ass, and got one of my best times….. So I might be fat, but I’m FIT AF!
